MEP is exhibiting at PSM (stand number A29). This is "the window on tomorrow's low carbon world". To quote the event brochure, "It's an exciting, dynamic and stimulating networking event bringing together international experts, entrepreneurs,engineers, innovators, businessmen, planners,politicians and the public to debate, display and promote a vision of tomorrow's low carbon world TODAY." Our stand is adjacent to the Globally Local stand.

GLOBALLY LOCAL SUPPORTS FAIRTRADE
Saturday 27th February 2010
During FAIR TRADE FORTNIGHT we are managing a FAIR and ETHICAL TRADE marquee in Victoria Square on SATURDAY 27th FEBRUARY.
There is space for SMALL businesses, and campaign groups able to demonstrate a sustainable and ethical approach to trade. All members of Midlands Eco Partnership are especially welcome.
SCHOOLS DEBATE and GREEN DRAGONS' DEN
On the previous Thursday - 25th February - we are joining with the city's Events section to manage a SCHOOLS PRESENTATION on Sustainability and Fair Trade. This will be held in the COUNCIL CHAMBER, providing students with the opportunity to use the Council voting system.
The second half of this event will consist of a revival of our GREEN DRAGONS' DEN in which small "eco" businesses make their own presentation on their efforts to create a more sustainable society through business activity.

SUNDAY 19th JULY is THE BIG LUNCH
The community street party is being revived! An initiative by Tim Smit of The Eden Project, The Big Lunch has government support and sponsorship from over 20 major corporations, NGOs and other organisations. It's currently the standard post mark on letters you receive.See a blog posting in The Guardian all about The Big Lunch.
The Midlands Eco Partnership is getting involved, with a street party linked to the Changing Lifestyles Eco Centre, 45 Loveday St, Birmingham B4 6NR
It is still being finalised, but our draft programme is as follows:
- LUNCH (naturally!) from around 1.00pm, involving two local pubs; a focus on regional foods; links to the historic Irish and Welsh connections in the area; Heart of England Fine Foods; a local brewery and local vineyard, both of which will be offering group visits.
- WORKSHOPS for families and children on recycling and textiles
- OPEN DAY at Changing Lifestyles Eco Centre, with displays, products and information
- TRANSITION TOWNS sessions aimed in particular at the small business community

MEP joins Water For Life Festival

Cannon Hill Park, adjacent to Birmingham Nature Centre - Free
Popular children's TV characters Detective Dan and Jelly, from The Green Balloon Club on the BBC's CBeebies, will be raising awareness about the city's rivers, water quality, drought, flooding and wildlife. With a steel band, Bollywood dancing, Bhangra dance and drums and a Polish dance troupe, there will be plenty to entertain young and old alike. Backed by the BBC's Breathing Places, the event is being run by the Environment Agency in partnership with Birmingham City Council and Be Birmingham.

Formal launch of the Midlands Eco Partnership
The launch took place on a snowy Tuesday 3rd February at the Changing Lifestyles exhibition, in Birmingham Town Hall. Changing Lifestyles was a three-day exhibition looking at eco challenges and solutions. It provided information and debate on how we can change our lifestyles in Food, Fuel, Fashion, Finance and Fun.
